A computerized hand control with a fully motorized Altazimuth mount makes alignment a quick and simple process. Also included is NSOL telescope control software, which provides basic control of the telescope through the computer. But for those more advanced star enthusiasts who might want to upgrade, the NexStar 130 is also compatible with the more advanced NexRemote software.
One of the most useful features of the NexStar 130 is its SkyAlign function, which includes a star pointer finderscope with a red LED light. No longer do you need to fumble with a star map or compass while trying to locate your viewing position. With SkyAlign, you simply enter the date and time, and then point the scope at three bright stars. Not only will it give you the names of those stars, but once aligned, the telescope’s database can find for you over 4,000 stars, planets, and galaxies. And for those with a thirst for more astronomical knowledge, also included is the educational CD-Rom “The Sky” astronomy software, which includes printable sky maps.
